City seeks leaf clearing volunteers – can you help your neighbourhood?

A message from Brian Beck, City of Vancouver Waste Management:

Hello, City of Vancouver community volunteers.

We are reaching out to you today because you are a trusted member of your community who cares about Keeping Vancouver Spectacular.

Stormy, wet weather is common throughout this season and with many leaves on the ground, storm drains can easily become clogged with leaves, creating flooding. During this season, the City encourages residents to:

  • Rake or clear leaves from the storm drain in front of their home to prevent flooding, and
  • Report flooding cases through VanConnect or to 3-1-1

We recognize and are very thankful of the residents that already take it upon themselves to ensure that the storm drains in their neighbourhoods are kept clear of leaves.  City crews do their best to respond to 3-1-1 calls about flooding but it’s helpful to have residents step up too.

UPDATE: The survey is now closed.
